BROAD STREET — NORTH TO SUB-TREASURY - 1917
PATRIOTIC  DECORATIONS — BROAD STREET  AND   CURB MARKET

Curb Market, Broad Street, New York City
Circa 190?

Curb Market on Broad Street looking toward the Treasury on Wall Street. A unique open air market on which are sold stocks that are not listed on the exchanges. A scene of great animation and excitement daily from 10 A. M. to 3 P. M.
Circa 191?.

The neighborhood around Wall Street has been the commercial center of New York City since colonial times. Before moving inside, brokers gathered outdoors to trade goods and stocks at various markets.

The American Stock Exchange, one of many exchange places in the area, moved to an indoor space only in 1921.
