Harrison and Mona Williams at home in Palm Beach, “against a Chinese wallpaper that’s as vivid as the tropical vegetation outside.”
Installed within the Paris apartment of St. Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé. Purchased from the wealthy fine art philanthropists Jayne and Charles Wrightsman, the wallpaper is depicted in Cecil Beaton’s famed watercolour portrait of Harrison and Mona Williams (later Mona Bismarck) in their Palm Beach home. They had themselves bought the set in the 1930’s from Syrie Maugham, one of the most popular interior decorators of the early 20th century ‘Beau Monde’.
